Shakespeare Media was commissioned by IT security provider Sophos' to film and edit a case study video featuring CareFlight, a critical care aeromedical retrieval service and charity based in Queensland, Australia. The web video production was filmed on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane, over two days. The case study highlights the success CareFlight has had utilising Sophos' IT security solutions.

[Brad Hosking, IT Manager, CareFlight]:

“CareFlight is an aeromedical charity that operates throughout Queensland. We have a series of helicopters [and] jets which provide those aeromedical services throughout the state. We provide aeromedical transfers for hospitals, so providing helicopter transfers between smaller hospitals to the larger ones in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. We also attend primary accidents and rescue scenes throughout the state.”

“We’ve got an extensive network which we utilise through Sophos and Telstra and we provide network services from the standard email through to our intranets through that particular corporate network connection. Lives are at risk effectively if we aren’t able to task a job correctly. CareFlight requires an IT security platform, same as any other organisation. The UTN security does this very easily and its very simple to manage. We’re not an IT business, that’s probably the main thing to the whole structure of this, we are an aeromedical rescue company but we need to be part of that, and show how we can actually reduce our costs, but be very effective for the rest of the company.”

[Andrew Crawford-Flett, Account Executive, Sophos]:

Sophos end-point protection on premise managed solution provides protection from malware across their (CareFlight) entirely geographically dispersed environment with multiple sites. Though not an enterprise, as in thousands of users, the fact is realistically their requirements are still at enterprise level. They’ve got complexity of geographically dispersed locations, their answerable to regulatory compliance, they have to demonstrate compliance and report on that, and they need to be able to connect users that are always on.”

[Brad Hosking, IT Manager, CareFlight]:

“The trial before you buy was essential, we had to be able to ensure that Sophos could meet up with all the capabilities that we wanted. In saying that, we didn’t have a huge security platform originally so being able to see what the UTN can do overall in one box was sort of a no-brainer at the end of the day.”

[Andrew Crawford-Flett, Account Executive, Sophos]:

“The process of assessing Sophos is always a very easy process for our customers. There is no substitute for your own experience, so just give it a go, let it sell its self, we can then just turn your email solution into your production solution.”

[Brad Hosking, IT Manager, CareFlight]:

“Implementation of the Sophos devices was simple. It didn’t take long per device and we did it on a stage roll out for each different location. My team have more time now to focus on other things from the help desk side of solutions, for the parts of the business. Before we had the solution installed we had to rely on many different providers to provide different solutions, now we’ve got a consolidation there that works very well for us.”

[Andrew Crawford-Flett, Account Executive, Sophos]:

“Good security should just work and just step in where it needs to. So by making sure that part of it is looked after, then we can support CareFlights core mission, doing what they do best and what their there for, and that’s to save lives.

[Brad Hosking, IT Manager, CareFlight]:

“Our partnership with Sophos has worked fantastically. It has provided reduced costs and also an exceptionally strong network throughout Queensland.”
